Why Bluebonnet?

Medicine That Puts You First

Most endocrinology practices make you wait months and rush through 10-minute appointments. We do things differently — the way medicine was meant to be practiced.

Dr. Neha Lalani, MD

🏅 Endocrinology, Diabetes & Metabolism 🏅 Internal Medicine 🏅 Obesity Medicine (ABOM)

Dr. Lalani is a triple board-certified specialist in Endocrinology, Internal Medicine, and Obesity Medicine — one of the few physicians in Austin with this rare combination of expertise. Her mission is bringing back the "golden era" of medicine: long visits, genuine relationships, and care decisions made between patient and physician, not dictated by insurance companies.

Trained at the University of Buffalo under renowned endocrinologist Dr. Paresh Dandona, followed by fellowship at Kansas University Medical Center, Dr. Lalani cared for thousands of complex patients before launching her own practice. After a decade in traditional healthcare, she opened Bluebonnet to practice medicine her way — with ample time, empathy, and evidence-based care tailored to each patient.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Have a question not answered here? Call us at 512-387-4224 or send us an email.

Do I need a referral to see Dr. Lalani?

Most patients do not need a referral. You can contact us directly to schedule an appointment. If your insurance plan requires a referral for out-of-network reimbursement purposes, that would be between you and your insurer — but it's not required to book with us.

Do you accept insurance?

We accept straight Medicare Part B only. For all other patients, we operate on a direct-pay (cash-pay) model. We do provide detailed superbills for out-of-network insurance reimbursement. Many patients also use HSA or FSA accounts. We believe this model allows us to focus entirely on your care — not insurance paperwork.

How quickly can I get an appointment with an endocrinologist in Austin TX?

We typically schedule new patients within 1 week of their initial contact — in many cases sooner. This is one of our key advantages: the average wait to see an endocrinologist in Austin is 4–8 weeks with traditional practices. When you have a new diagnosis or urgent concern, you should not have to wait that long.

Does Dr. Lalani offer telemedicine endocrinology visits?

Yes! We offer telemedicine visits for patients across Texas. Virtual visits are available on a flexible schedule, including evening options. Many of our follow-up appointments are conducted virtually, which saves you time and eliminates travel. We also have an in-person office in Lakeway, TX.

What is the membership plan and who is it for?

The membership plan ($150/month) is ideal for patients who need ongoing endocrinology management — such as those with diabetes, thyroid disease, or hormonal conditions that require regular follow-up. It includes uninterrupted ongoing care, direct access to Dr. Lalani, CGM reviews, no paperwork fees, and exclusive lab discounts. It requires a 6-month commitment and 30-day cancellation notice.

How much does an endocrinology consultation cost at Bluebonnet?

A new patient consultation costs $449 (one-time, required for all new patients). Follow-up pay-per-visit appointments are $275. The ongoing membership plan is $150/month. All pricing is transparent and communicated upfront — no surprise bills. Through our direct lab partnerships, many common lab panels that cost hundreds through insurance can be obtained for under $50.

What should I bring to my first endocrinology appointment?

Bring any relevant prior lab work, imaging reports, a current medication list, and a summary of your medical history. We'll send you an intake form to complete before your visit. The more information Dr. Lalani has upfront, the more productive your first appointment will be.

Does Dr. Lalani provide second opinions on endocrinology diagnoses?

Absolutely. Second opinions are welcome and valued. If you've received a diagnosis or treatment plan and want expert review, Dr. Lalani is happy to evaluate your case thoroughly. The new consultation fee ($449) applies, and we'll conduct a comprehensive review of your records and situation.
